Women's Alliance
Camraderie and Community Projects
"Our fairs are an enormous boost to getting to know each other. And when the day is done - yes many of us are tired - but the camraderie made it more than just worth the effort. There is no better way to 'get acquainted'!"
The Women's Alliance has deep historical roots at First Parish and is responsible for a number of church and community projects. The Women's Alliance meets periodically during the year at the church. Dessert and coffee is served at the meetings where members talk about a variety of subjects such as their travels, birding, Scituate history. The Women's Alliance is open to all members.
The Alliance sponsors the Snowflake Fair in December. The fair is held on the first Saturday in December. It features natural Christmas wreathes and fresh cut greens, handicrafts, baked goods, antique/used items. For young people there is a mystery room where they can buy inexpensive gifts for their parents. No parents are allowed in this room! Members create a variety of handicrafts that are sold at the fair to raise funds for programs in the church.
Among the activities that the group sponsors are scholarships for the Youth Conference at the UUA conference center on Star Island, New Hampshire.
