You are important!
The spiritual growth and religious education of a child is really a cooperative venture between church and home. Parents, friends and members of the church are needed to lend both emotional and physical support.
Other ways parents are of help:
- Recognizing that much of religious education comes from home
- Showing interest in your child’s curriculum
- Bringing children to church regularly and on time
- Sharing your time and talent by assisting with special events
- Serving on the Religious Education committee
- Mentoring youth.
Ages 5-15
This year we are excited to using curricula from the Unitarian Universalist Association –sponsored Tapestry of Faith program. Tapestry of Faith is a new series of programs and resources for all ages that nurture Unitarian Universalist identity, spiritual growth, a transforming faith, and vital communities of justice and love. These resources are being developed out of a broad series of conversations that articulate a future direction for Unitarian Universalist religious growth and learning and denomination-wide focus groups which are helping shape a program that offers a variety of resources—downloadable, printable, viewable, interactive, and more—a religious growth and learning program for the twenty-first century.
Classes are grouped by age as follows (click here for a full description):
Senior High Youth Group
The Youth Group is comprised of high school aged youth (grades 9-12) who gather weekly for worship, fun, social action, and deepening relationships. It is an ongoing group that seeks to foster spiritual depth, clarify both individual and universal religious values and create a peaceful community on Earth. A part of the Unitarian Universalist youth movement, this group welcomes all high school students in our faith community.
