The Reverend Stephen Cook
In August of 2011, the Rev. Stephen Cook began a two-year term of service as our interim minister. Mr. Cook has been an ordained and lay leader in Unitarian Universalism for thirty years. As a lay leader, he served parishes in Maine, filling offices from Religious Education teacher to congregation president, and on the Board of Directors of what was then the Northeast District of the Unitarian Universalist Assocation. As a cleric, Mr. Cook served the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson in Hudson, MA, for nie years, and served as an interim minister in Portland, ME, as well as in Northampton and in Wellesley, MA. His service to First Parish will be the fourth placment in his career as a specialist in interim ministry.Prior to entering the ministry, Mr. Cook was a joiner for Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers of Auburn, ME, and in the 1970's, was a fencing master and varsity fencing coach for Cornell University, as well as a member of the coaching staffs of the U.S. National and Olympic fencing teams. He reads widely in theology, history and poetry, and is a member of the Boston Saengerfest Men's Chorus. Mr. Cook lives in Charlestown, MA, with his Great Dane, Cayden, and will be commuting to Scituate serveral days a week.
