The purpose of Green Sanctuary is to encourage adherence to the 7th UU principle – to Cherish the Living Earth. We have marched in the St Patrick’s day, concluded an energy audit, sponsored several lay-led services.

We strive to present one Religious Education course a month on ecology. We hope to offer adult education classes on sustainable living shortly.

We have also “greened” up our Coffee Hour. We are currently working on applying to UUA for Green Sanctuary status and we are creating a sustainable garden.

Many church members are associated with Sustainable Scituate, a grassroots organization comprised of Scituate residents who advocate for renewable energy and conservation measures in our town.
